Sneaker Pimps 2006 VENUE CHANGE!!!

Sneaker Pimps is coming to Chicago August 18th to THE CONGRESS THEATER, 2135 N MILWAUKEE AVE!


Sneaker Pimps is the worlds largest touring sneaker show featuring over 1000 pairs of rare, limited edition, vintage, celebrity signed, artists collaborated sneakers and a collection of sneaker inspired artwork, fashion and photography. Featuring original artworks by Futura, Stash, Doze, Shepard Fairey, Dave White, Cope2, Ghost, Ewok, JB Classics, Methamphibian, Jor One, SBTG, Kinsey, C2, EricQ, Jeremy Fish etc
Sneaker Pimps has visited more than 62 cities throughout the globe visiting countries such as Australia (three times), New Zealand, USA (three times), Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, China, Thailand, Canada, Belgium, South Africa, Indonesia and The Philippines, making it the world largest cultural street-art lifestyle exhibition.



Chicago will host the 3rd year of the Midwest’s only stop for Sneaker Pimps. Chicago sneaker and installation artists will be a major part of Sneaker Pimps 06’ with works from:
HolyZapatos (Mike Genovese, Denz, Temper, Jeremy Barbour, Thor Alward, Grok, Jack, Risk, Fane, Stef, BBoy B, and Trixter), C2 (Milwaukee), as well as all the traveling works from the aforementioned artists.


PLUS… Lupe Fiasco will be on hand to liven up the sound of the evening. Lupe’s new music video “Kick, Push” features 3 Chicago skateboarders (Jackson Hennessey, Kiko Varela, and Neen Williams) and showcases Uprise Skateshop. The Uprise family will be bringing some ramps to the party for some four-wheeled fun. St. Alfred’s, Uprise, Phli, Fly Paper, New Era, Red Bull, Expensive Stains, and HolyZapatos will all have giveaways and products on hand to feed the appetites of even the most distinguished sneaker freaks.
The show starts at 8pm at THE CONGRESS THEATER, 2135 N MILWAUKEE AVE. Bring your love for kicks and some money if you want to stay fresh this summer.

P-Rod Commercial... Shameless Plug...

The folks over at PlatinumSeagulls are some of the funniest, most talented cats in Minnesota. Benji Meyer has helped make Minnesota a skate destination for years with his numerous video releases. Recently he put out a compilation of them all with his newest video Weekend Warriors. It's available for download to your Ipod right now at the Plat which also has a new dueling window interface that you love. Benji also films for Nike SB and caught a HolyZapatos artist or two in some of the Chicago Nike tour footage on his site. See if you can find it.

Tucker Got Married!

Congratulations to Familia shop manager and HolyZapatos artist Tucker Gerrick. He's officially hitched. Tucker also has a T-shirt coming out in conjunction with Handjob/WFG that is sure to make you laugh and maybe even cry a little. Move-on.org is usually an extremely left wing political activism group. BUT, their new letter writing campaign is for everyone and any political ideology. With Republicans clamoring to hold on to their seats in the upcoming mid-term elections, and Democrats trying to get as much information (peppered with propaganda) out that will oust the republicans... We (the young, disenfranchised, and people with any reasoning power) have a responsibility to make our voices heard. Move-on.org has set up an easy to use writing campaign template that lets you send a letter to the editor of nearly all the major newspapers in the country at once. Lumpen will hold an art exhibition called Lumpenthology: Adventure
City featuring works by friends of lumpen. A sampling of past Lumpen
stuff from the magazine archive will also be on display. The event
will also feature the release of the 100th issue, live action silk
screening by Myles and Aay of Lumpen logos Logans illustrations and
a Korean Polish Bar-B-Q on Heaven's outdoor terrace.

Performances by Water Babies, Seoul Man Gene Lee, Warhammer 48K,
Brotmanand Short, and Aleks and the Drummer at Happy Dog (the old
Buddy space)

DJ Logan Bay and Rand will hold down the decks and laptop in Heaven.

Festivities begin at 8pm and admission is $10 (which includes a
t-shirt, Korean Polish BBQ, pbrs, and some other stuff. Bring extra
t-shirts and whatever clothes you want to silkscreen on as we will
only have about 100 shirts to give out.

Lumpenthology Adventure City runs through August 15th
